What are my responsibilities as a member of USA North 811?
Respond in a timely manner to all locate requests you receive. That means:
Respond to each request before the start time or legal notice (whichever is later)
Accurately mark and locate your underground facilities when threatened by the proposed excavation
Notify the contractor, homeowner, or ticket submitter promptly when your facilities are clear of their excavation work and they are in no danger of uncovering them
Follow CGA Best Practices Appendix B guidelines when marking the facilities you own in the area of proposed excavation
Using the appropriate amount of markings needed to identify your underground facilities while avoiding excessive markings and decorative hardscapes (decorative rock, pavers, stamped walkways, etc) at the site.
Using the appropriate marker type for site and weather conditions (flags, paint, whiskers, offsets, etc.)
Respond to any other ticket notices (no response, request for call, request for field meet) promptly
Ensure your information is always up to date with USA North 811. That means:
Maintain detailed maps and records of your underground facilities
Reviewing and updating (if needed) your service area registration on a regular basis to ensure you are receiving all of the notifications you should be
Reviewing and updating (if needed) the contacts and their information listed on your membership account on a regular basis to ensure contractors, homeowners, and USA North 811 knows who to get in touch with when there is a question or issue
Notify USA North 811 of any billing department changes that would impact your bill getting to the correct staff member or payment being sent on time

What are your hours of operation?
USA North 811 is now open 24x7 to take your locate requests. During overnight and weekend hours however we have limited staffing available, so we ask that you please submit your tickets online during these hours via our E-Ticket or 811 Express platform unless it is an emergency or priority situation.
